Fatal collision between two trains leaves 12 people injured at Kacheguda Station (Telangana)

12 passengers were injured when an MMTS train rammed into a stationary train at Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad on Monday.

Hyderabad : A fatal accident happened today when two trains collided head to head at Kacheguda Railway Station in Telangana’s Hyderabad which was MMTS and an Express Train.
Twelve people are injured who have been rushed to nearby hospitals, railway authority as well as the local administration have reported on the site immediately. According to the initial reports the train driver of the local train is still stuck in the engine.
“Received the tragic news of the train accident in Hyderabad & immediate instructions have been given to the authorities for assistance & monitoring,” Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted. “Railway administration is extending assistance & have made arrangements for the treatment of the injured at the accident site,” he said.
MMTS was coming from Lingampally and was headed towards Falaknuma whereas the Express Train was coming from Kurnool which was heading to Secunderabad when around 10:30 am they both collided with affecting six coaches of MMTS service and three coaches of Hundry Express.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of MMTS train failed to locate the signal and skipped it. An inquiry into the accident has been ordered by the South Central Railway.
